We accomplished everything planned for Saturday: snorkelling at "the aquarium", shopping for black pearl jewelry, and underway by 2PM to avoid adverse currents. The snorkelling was great, there were large schools of tropical fish which came right up to us with virtually no fear. We saw a couple of moray eels, one of which was huge with the geometry of a stubby telephone pole. We also saw a baby reef shark which was very exciting for the girls.
As far as the black pearl jewelry, an expedition was arranged to several specialty shops and we certainly contributed our fair share to the local economy. Everyone was pleased with their purchases and look forward to showing off their acquisitions when back home.
So far the prediction for 10-15 kts of wind from the east has not materialized and we are motoring. We hope to be able to sail at least part of the way to Tahiti and expect to arrive Monday morning regardless of the wind.
