Ensemble - Day 98 (Sunday 15 April 2012): ... Another day in paradise...

Greetings from yacht Ensemble.

We're currently in Rangiroa, anchored off the $1000 a night resort the Kia Ora. The lagoon is beautiful - with crystal clear waters and no swell to speak of.

After we dropped anchor Magali went for a snorkel to check the anchor (on sand much to our relief) - and said - 'oh, look at that cute little fish - it looks like a little shark...' - it was a little shark. There are lots of fish in the lagoon - and we went for a nice snorkel in a place near the lagoon entrance called the Aquarium with the family from Samsara. The Aquarium lived up to its name - with plenty of tropical fish - including the biggest Moray eel I've seen (must have been 1 ft wide), black tip reef sharks, and a friendly ramora who attached himself to the bottom of Samsara's dinghy.

The one downside of this paradise is that our dinghy outboard has decided to stop working. It was fine yesterday - and despite the 'tilt' the day before yesterday as we were upping anchor - the outboard never got wet - so a bit of a mystery. Another one to add to the list in Papeete!

We stopped off at the resort for lunch - and then went to the Pearl farm where Magali negotiated a good deal for 3 black pearls that she will turn into ear rings and a necklace ("I saved you a fortune!"). We then went back to the boat (rowing) - and changed for dinner - rowed back for cocktails and a nice dinner at the resort restaurant...

Today we'll spend relaxing - probably give the hull a rub to remove some of the weed that seems to love growing on it...and make a return trip to the resort for dinner.

Cheers

Dave & Magali
