Saltwhistle III - Day 13 - still light winds

Hi,

we've still got lighter winds than forecast; well.... lets just say that they are at the bottom end of the forecast range. If it wasn't for the favourable current of 0.6kts we'd have made poor showing over the last 24 hours. As it was, we made 138 miles to 0630 this morning which was ok. We reset the rig at dawn from twin headsails to main and poled out genoa - its
giving us 6.5-7.0 kts in the right direction.

Fortunately the sunny weather yesterday allowed the girls to get the bikinis on and do some serious sunbathing so the day wasn't wasted.

We found 1 large dead flying fish on the deck yesterday; this is probably a better result than the flying fish that hit one crew in the back of the head as reported on another boat a few days ago.

We expect to cross the 1000 miles to go mark around dusk today. With the light winds a possibly even a quiet patch up ahead, getting in for Saturday's jazz looks challenging.

Bye for now.

Tony
