Crazy Horse - Jan 29

Wind is SSE to SE at 9kts. We are motoring now and have taken down the jib which we had up throughout the night. It just is flogging around too much wind not so much wind. We are motoring at between 6 and 7 kts. This morning was the first time in a long time Bill was able to report our position to the net controller. He was able to hear some of the positions of the fleet. We are closest to Chessie and then Kalliope, and Brown-eyed Girl. If this no wind continues it will be a long trip to get to Salvador.

On the bright side I am able to get some washing done- is that a bright side?- and the cooking is easier without as much heel. Speaking of which we had a wonderful meal of tuna steaks last night compliments of Annie's Place on St. Helena. They tasted terrific with our couscous and green beans. The night before we had filets from Hout Bay which were just melt in your mouth fantastic. Matt seared them in the pan, made a wonderful risotto rice with articokes and onions and a fresh side of broccoli. We just sat and ohhhed and ahhhed over everything. Bill and I have decided the best food on the trip so far is out of the question from this boat. Thanks to our wonderful chef Matt. I have started taking pictures of his meals so we have the proof when we come home. They even look like something out of a gourmet restaurant.

We put out the fishing line yesterday and no takers. Maybe these fish in the Atlantic are a little smarter. I have heard of many stories of the fish that got away. Perhaps they have their own contest to see how many of the World ARC boats they can snag then get away. They are all having a laugh over us now.

We have 1260 more miles to Salvador. As much as I love that Wonder Washer- I will be ready to relinquish that job to the laundry mat. In Capetown they had a marvelous one called the Wishy Washy. Right now I wishy I had a washy machine.

Rosemary, Bill and Matt
