Crazy Horse - Jan 27

27 Jan 2011

The winds are dying quite a bit now. Only showing 10-15kts. We may have to change our wing and wing sails. We are rattling around some and rolling with the waves. Guess the last two days were too much to hope that would continue.

Chessie is off to our south and about 12 miles away from us. We haven't heard anything of the whereabouts of OJ. They were supposed to leave St. Helena on Wed. but no word where they are in this great big ocean. Chessie did say this morning they did talk on the SSB to Graham from Eowyn. It is good to know that we are coming closer to the fleet.

Last night we had a great roast chicken with carrots and garlic mashed potatoes. There was a wonderful sunset and we had a nice sail through the night. It was pretty peaceful. We are making up for it with the rolling today however.

Tonight we will celebrate our 300 mile mark with a steak dinner. Can't complain about that one. Still have plenty of frozen veggies but the fresh ones are going fast. At least in Brazil we should find some wonderful veggies and fruits.

Heard they are having snow and sleet back home. That is something we are not missing. Think I could get used to never seeing it again!

Time for another wash day. OJ says they love that Wonder Washer.

Well, didn't even get to finish this blog before the command was given to change the sails. We now have the small Asail up and had to take down the main and jib. We are now down to 4-5 kts of speed. Wonder how long the Capt will be happy with that until we turn on the engine. So I guess we are now in the doldrums of the Atlantic. Just when you think things are moving along nicely I guess they hit you. Good thing we have lots of good music, books and wash to keep us busy. There are always the steaks to look forward to.

There is a lot of talk going on up topsides between the Capt and Matt on ways to increase our speed. Wonder how many other sail changes will occur before the engine goes on?

Staying out of it,
Rosemary, Bill and Matt
