Crazy Horse -

It is Sunday am and the other boats from the fleet left yesterday at noon. It was interesting watching them vi for position at the start as some of them tried for sail only start and others went for the motor sail and others the straight motor only. It was a difficult sail which made for a ticky tacky out of the harbor which is filled with rocks on either side. I would have preferred the motor sail myself if we were out there. The fog bank engulfed them as they headed out to sea. As viewers only we had some nostalgia not being able to go with the fleet. But we still have work to  complete.

Monday the engine man will come to finish work on our rebuilt starter. He will also have to do some rewiring work. Today we put up the sails and will pick up laundry and try to finish some of our long term provisioning. We were told beer and wine is expensive in South America so we will try to do some of that here where things are cheaper. We don't drink much on our passages - perhaps one at dinner- so we will have plenty.

Last night we ate at the V&A which is the waterfront. Bill and I went on the gigantic ferris-wheel and saw most of the harbor and city of Capetown. The top of the wheel is close to 200ft high. We were close to the top of many of the skyscrapers. It was quite a view. We still hope to get up to the top of Table Mountain. The wind must be just right without clouds to really get the full benefit.

The weather has been lovely here the last week with some hot days but usually a breeze which cools things off. It seems that we are in the midst of summer here in Capetown.
