A Lady - Sailing around the World (Presently in Durban)

Wednesday, 17th November 2010

We woke up to a very cloudy and miserable morning, still Aileen managed to get up and go for a long walk, while skipper did the blog and emails and Neil maintained his sleeping status.

09.00hrs We had porridge for breakfast, and Neil took off to clear the paperwork for leaving port. The weather was really wet and wild by now, while skipper waited for the refrigeration guy to turn up... Of course he never showed, the little */.,  but happens every now and then, and it would drive one nuts. Speaking of nuts, lets eat a few wall nuts, ones Aileen had hidden, but we found them while looking for something else.

Midday, we bumped into Graham and chatted with them for a while, they were about to leave and head south, but we were in no hurry, the flipping weather was miserable, and we have had a belly full of miserable sailing to last us for a while, so whats the rush. We think the weather window will last until Saturday, and we need just 2 days to get to P.E. (Port Elizabeth) so we will stay until early tomorrow morning.

14.00hrs Aileen did a bus tour of Durban, while Neil and Skipper played boats, you know, just fiddling around and sort things out. Little things on board, we also took a trip to the hardware store and bought a new set of screwdrivers, great value stuff, and some grease for the flanges. Now, that's stuff not easily available.......

17.00hrs N & S went to the " Point YC " for a beer. There we met Dave again, a local member, we met him the first night we arrived and found him entertaining, so we had a laugh. It was also their night for sailing/racing, so they had a supper/dinner laid on. This was beef curry, chicken curry and other similar foods, as much as you could eat, and all for 3 euros each. Aileen joined us at 19.00hrs and we duly stuffed our selves full of curry, and of course a few little beers. They also had live music, just to make everyone deaf...

The weather was still miserable outside, so we were happy we were not at sea.

We returned to the boat later and hit the scratchers.... zzzzzzzzzzzz ZZZZZZZZZZ zzzz

That's it for today,

Signed :- Stephen Hyde  (Skipper)
