Crazy Horse - Nov. 9

Well, I have some good news and some bad news. The bad news is that we won't be going home on our original date of Nov. 16th. It was just too stressful to try to get us and Crazy Horse down the coast and around to Capetown with all the weather challenges. So Elaine was able to get our flight changed to the next week right before Thanksgiving. Thanks Elaine. That is the good news. Wow! Was I ever happy that all that has worked out. We should have enough time with that extra week to get ourselves and the Crazy down the coast and on to Capetown.

Last night we had up the main with a double reef, the jib reefed down and were still doing 12 and 13 kts at times. Just getting in accross that Agulhas current has taken us all day, night , and morning! We will be happy to get into port and have a rest. We are all exhausted from this last leg with the varying winds, confused seas, currents, and general no sleep. The winds were pretty amazing at times above 35-40kts. Even Matt admits being worried with the high winds and boat seeming out of control at times. It's somewhat stressful being on watch by oneself having the responsibility of everyone's safety when the conditions are rough like that. Poor Crazy Horse has taken a beating with the waves banging up against us over the last day and night. Some of the waves crashed the through to the cockpit giving us a good soaking. But with all that we still did eat well with our cook preparing things like Chinesey Chicken, shrimp fried rice, baked chicken, and a new version of shepherd's pie. With 8 miles to go the current is finally letting up. Looking at the GPS we were going sideways fighting it!

Wonder what we will see when we get to shore. Can't believe we are really going to be in Africa. How exciting!

Rosemary, Bill, and Matt
