Cleone - Leg 16 Day 8 - We've arrived!

Cleone arrived in Cocos (South Keeling Islands) at about 0400 GMT (UTC).

As ever, the last few miles were the longest.  The wind died an hour after the Skipper had got his head down last night, and the spinnaker wrapped itself comprehensively around the forestay.  This took all three of us an hour to sort out.  Thereafter, we motor-sailed for much of the rest of the night, but when the Skipper came on watch just before dawn, there was - just - a sailing breeze.  So it was up with the Mizzen Staysail, and away we went again, engine silent once more.

And so it went until we arrived at the entrance through the reef and into the lagoon.  We are now secure in the yachties anchorage - in a stunning, calm lagoon with the waves breaking on the reef just three hundred metres from us.  We are surrounded by the other WARC yachts and various others, including a yacht from Estonia that has been dogging us all the way around the world.  The snorkelling is excellent, the views are stunning and we are looking forward to a few restful days of partying and swimming and a bit of sight-seeing.  Cant wait, and Customs and Immigration and the Harbourmaster are about to visit us.

All well with us, and best wishes to everyone

James, Norfy (Chris) and Alex
