Gozwoz - The case of the broken cooker

Another day of downwind sailing in wind of 10-15 knots with the genoa goose-winged, not comfortable, as GOZWOZ, like all yachts, rolls with the wind over her transom. We have already made up for our delayed start by overtaking a number of other yachts, several of which we have seen from time to time and which do not seem willing or able to sail dead downwind. Today witnessed remarkable displays of resourcefulness on the part of the Bosun and others. The high point was the repair of the cooker, one of whose trunnions (?) had fallen off in the course of Roger's aggressive cleaning activities. The first thought was that the best that could be achieved would be to prop the cooker on a book (in mid-Atlantic!). An effective repair was, however, achieved to sighs of relief all round from the worried crew and undisguised admiration by Roger of her man. The issue of the Great Circle Route remains a stick with which to beat the Navigator with talk of us getting to the Azores via Oz. He in turn wishes it to be known that, at the time of writing, we are within 100 yards of our Great Circle Route after 160 miles! We have had two days of favourable, if not exciting, wind and tomorrow seems likely to follow the same pattern. A depression is, however, in the offing over the weekend though we hope only to meet it's fringes, and after that there is talk of head winds.
Addendum by Our Great Leader: I am constantly amazed at the resourcefulness of the crew. The case of the cooker is a great example of team working.
