Nexus - Too slow for Russ...

Well we sailed almost all of yesterday and well into the evening, but 4.5kts was too slow for Russ, so the noisy motor came on for a few hours. Fortunately the wind came up in the early morning and we pulled the sail back out...now it's dying off midday again and we're looking motoring for a little while. 5kts really is my threshold of pain, even though the boat was sailing nicely at 4kts, it would take us another week at that rate. We'll sail again as soon as the wind goes back to 10-12kts, but unfortunately it's now swung directly behind us so there's no opportunity to heat up the sails with apparent wind angles, it's just a down wind slog. Interesting weather pattern today, this morning we had 12-15kts of wind and horizon to horizon cloud cover but as the wind died off, the clouds just dissipated away to clear blue sky. There sure as hell wasn't enough wind to blow them anywhere and they weren't moving very much, they just evaporated...weird.

Well, it's back to fishing...no joy yet but we're getting really creative with lures! I think we just haven't been going fast enough to attract the fish and force a quick decision, I saw a large mahi mahi look over my rapalla in the wave face yesterday and I think he shook his head before swimming away but I'm not sure. We're trying one with more bubbles today!
