Makena - Nov 10 - Cape Verde leg day 2 sunset report

We covered over 170nm in the first 24 hours but the winds have not been so much fun today, or not fun with the wave direction anyway. We lost a fish who ran off with a favourite lure while sailing under the spinnacker (300m2 of orange and red). The spi got taken down at the start of a squall instead of before it so it was a case of free showers all round, including for baby Kai who was rudely rushed to the flybridge to help those less familiar with the boat to know which line was which. Our 1st cunnignham line got damaged where it turns at the mast but that is at least easy to repair. We have some problems with our square top sail touching the boom topping lift when we have one reef taken unfortunately for the sail. Anyway, that it is not meant to sound all negative at all - we are having a nice time together and eating well. We got below 3kts this morning while trying to load the weather forecast - ha!

Thankfully we are moving along better than that now :) We are near Easy Rider and can see Archer ahead to starboard side as the sun sets. The moon rise last night was stunning. We had some dolphins jumping in the distance around lunch time.
