Persistent Lady - On Leaving New York Harbor

We have been in NY Harbor for the past year at Liberty Landing Marina with beautiful views of the New York skyline and the Statue of Liberty, two excellent restaurants, and located in the middle of one of the nicest state parks in New Jersey; however, we have spent very little time enjoying these amenities, as we have been working constantly since we arrived. The list is too long to go into but some of the highlights include new Selden masts (we are a ketch), storm shutters, SSB, Satellite phone, AIS, new stove and head, fabrication of life raft mounting platform, new sub panel to handle all the added stuff and nine new 12 volt outlets. This barely scratches the surface, but we have really been busy all year long. Actually, saying that we have been busy is not quite accurate.

Dave, the miraculous contractor, who can build anything in any medium has been really busy, we have pretty much just been handing him tools and the occasional ham sandwich. He has been working almost daily for the past six months and we would not be able to do this without his invaluable contribution.

But now we are just days from leaving NY and sailing down to Portsmouth to begin the ARC Europe.

Tomorrow it is off to the butcher to start the provisioning, lots of small errands and all the while Dave will be handling the remaining items on our list. Can’t wait to see what he has accomplished when we get back aboard.
