Nexus - Still surging along!

We're making good time but the wind isn't quite strong enough to fully power NEXUS up, so she surfs down each wave coming from behind and surges ahead, only to slow in the trough behind and wait for the cycle to repeat quickly a few seconds later. It's great progress with the 10-11kt surges balanced with the 7-8kt troughs, but its a bit like riding with that Taxi driver we've all had once who was on the gas, on the brakes, on the gas.. but OK, we'll take it.
Cloudy day with isolated showers but good variable 15-22kt wind from the port rear quarter, giving us about an 8.7kt average speed over 24 hours. We have 940miles to go! It's hard to believe we've sailed NEXUS over 7000 miles since we left the Chesapeake, but she's doing beautifully. Oh yeah, we last left our hero...the snatch block, dangling over the water from the leeward gennaker sheet bound in a knot. We did retrieve it by pulling the sheet in tight, putting another line on the sheet in front of it and taking the load off the sheet with the line on a cleat. We were then able to reach out and pull the loose end of the sheet closer and untie the mess without dropping our block in the water. Smooth sailing now, but we're keeping an eye on the port antenna! Looks like we'll make landfall Monday for sure, and possibly late Sunday if the winds stay strong....hope springs eternal! All is well.
