Blue Dolphin - Day 8 = Baking bread

The crew suffered a particularly bad night, as the seas were rolly and the boat was pitched about.  (Apart from Sally who slept like a log – again!)  Carol woke this morning with all the symptoms of a hangover – headache, raging thirst, feeling sick – without any of the benefits of alcohol the night before.  The diagnosis was dehydration, so much more fluids for her today.

Because of the sea state yesterday Carol did not have her long awaited shower – just having a wash was too much like hard work.   So today Carol & Kathy took their 1st shower – bliss.  Mike then decided he would have one too, so the crew are now fully fragrant.

Although the sun was shining today conditions were still difficult, with the boat being pitched about again, nevertheless Sally decided to make her 1st loaf of bread.  She exerted herself in needing the dough but her efforts were rewarded when the dough tripled in size within half hour.  Carol was worried that it would take over the boat like some huge doughy alien.  Who would they call?  The resulting bake was fantastic and the crew enjoyed a supper of steak sandwiches with onions - yummy.

Kathy has taken to drinking beer!  Albeit half a can – at the moment!  What with the lack of showering, the same clothes every day, stains and all, and now beer, she will be almost unrecognisable when she meets her husband in St LLucia.

Carol was on the early night watch and Kathy was on deck too as she was feeling very sick.  After discussing the awful conditions and the way they had both felt ill today Kathy asked Carol to remind her why they were doing this.  Carol said she had no idea.  Have they hit the wall?  It seems a little early.  Hopefully they will remember in the next day or two!!
