Firefly - Busier out here

The ocean has been a little more crowded over the last 24 hours, on Paul's watch he crossed one of the 23 ft single handed mini transat fleet en route from France to Guadaloupe via Lanzarote. We saw a number of them when in Lanzarote while they were having a compulsory 24hr stop-over. We did not see many of the skippers (they were asleep most of the time) but the boats are very small and a huge achievement for the predominantly French fleet. In complete contrast we passed close to a Big Boat today - Tashatoo III a 59ft Gunfleet participating in the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC) from Las Palmas Gran Canaria to St Lucia (the event Paul and Peter have sailed in before). We had quite a long chat on the VHF radio with their owner/ skipper comparing experiences and weather reports. Having sailed to windward for the last 5 days they appear to have had a worse time of it than us.

We continue to sail to windward but in very sunny and dry conditions, we are hopeful that the trade winds will finally show up tomorrow.

Paul, Murray, Peter and Grateful (very confused by the flying fish)
