Azzurra - Day 3 heading west but not really

After following the ARC weather God's advise going south to Cap Verdes until the butter melts, we last not least decided also going westwards right away as all the others. We did not make any really improvement as there was no wind anywhere around our position. So we are happy with the sunshine and the clear sky at night. The moon does rise at approximately 2:00, thus we have a wonderful clear sky with bright stars. We detected several of our planets first of all the Venus. The low wind and no wind time were used to set up and check nearly all of our sails. The Gennaker did not provide a major speed improvement, whereby the big Spinnaker, 189 m2 gave us some remarkable speed, 6 knots. If we do not reach the trade winds soon we will need to reconsider our planed schedules. We are fine with drinking water. So far we did not touch too much of it. We could manage to get Max, our 5th crew member, back to work. The so called Munich manoeuvre put us in a stable situation not requiring the rudder, enabling us an easy repair. Franz did again a good job as chef cook. All the crew today worked hard handling all the sail changes, especially considering that we use no snuffer for the spinnaker. These exercises will improve the fitness of the crew. Continuing this kind of sailing all of us will get a nice sun tan. We put out our route to catch some fish; however we need to wait another day.

We have lots of fun
Manfred
