Ayesha II - Ayesha II Tuesday Nov 26th

We are now sailing (position at 1850 24.13.532N 19.40.805W) on a broad reach on a course of 220 enjoying much better winds than originally feared and have made good progress to date down towards the Cape Verde islands to pick up the trade winds which are proving somewhat fickle this year.

Start of the ARC was very special with so many yachts and a wonderful turnout by the local people to give us a super send off (happiest of them were the local bar owners who must make enough off the ARC for the year!). We chose to be circumspect at the start, with 3000 miles to go we wanted no problems and left with just the headsail up, which helped us cope very well with the squall that came in immediately after the start.

Yesterday we spent sailing with both sails right out, taking us in a more westerly direction than some of the fleet nur really taking advantage of the wind strength to get some miles under our belts. Today we have been sailing with a more traditional set up and have now changed course to a more southerly direction, planning to turn right just before the Cape Verde's

Team on board have gelled really well, with alot of hard work but alot of laughter!

Fishing has started today sadly without success but our Captain is bringing his special lure out tomorrow! Photo shows one of probably 3 dozen porpoises that accompanied us yesterday, playing around the yacht and leaping in the air, just posing for photos actually!
