Starblazer - We have arrived in Gran Canaria

We have found the winds in the Canaries to be case of feast or famine, far too much or not enough! It's usually far too much when you are trying to make progress in a roughly northerly direction, such as the return from La Gomera to Tenerife, it was horrible. In contrast, the trip to Gran Canaria from Tenerife was a boring motor, sailing for only a couple of hours.

We spent three nights in the anchorage before coming into the marina on Thursday. We couldn't have picked a better arrival day as we were invited to the Hallberg Rassy party. What a lovely surprise. Now we have a few days before ARC preparations begin in earnest, though the boat is just about ready to go! Friday was also a bit of a surprise. We officially checked into the ARC and went to the combined 'Farewell to ARC+' and 'Welcome to the ARC' party. The entertainment was really good.

As we have our safety inspection scheduled for Monday afternoon we now have Sunday to sort out the boat and unearth one or two things! Nothing serious, just 'nice to have' items like a waterproof GPS for the grab bag. (I'd hate the organisers to think we hide our safety kit away!)
