Webster - Log 4: last day in Bayona

Five days in Bayona is good neither for your waistline nor your liver. The calamari here is to die for and the paella likewise. The wine and the cocktails in the Irish bar, the G&Ts in the club house, the copious quantities of beer, those boys on Serendipity have a lot to answer for, leading me astray like that. The social side of this rally is great with receptions/ dinners nearly every evening.

Kate arrived on the boat this afternoon after I had to say cheerio to our Biscay crew of Phil, Jerry and Pete yesterday. The day was spent on hand and knee scrubbing and cleaning after putting in a 5 mile run - getting back into it for good or for bad- and when Kate arrived we went for a twice round the Parador castle.

The race to Povoa starts at 1030 tomorrow but a south/southwest 10-15 knots forecast. As usual, bang on the nose yet again! Just hope the sun comes out as its rained nearly every day so far and it's cold! Poor Kate hasn't brought too many warm clothes as its supposed to be hot. I can see her wearing my jumpers which is just crazy - and I hear its been 27c in Plymouth! We will be taking it nice and easy with just the two of us. Whilst we achieved first in class on the way down here I don't think that will be repeated but that's not what we are here for.

Roll on warm weather further south.
