This morning we have the spinnaker up in 15/20kts heading straight for Rodney Bay and the finish! Nyaminyami II - Nyaminyami II Blog Thursday 12.12.13 - 1200hrs

By Chris Haworth. Today’s Blog subject: Blog writing! Yesterday was, I am pleased to say, another groundhog day! A brilliant days sailing in a ENE 18/22Knts sea state still big and disturbed bowling along, rolling, yawing and pitching ....quite difficult to sleep at times without wedging yourself is some corner of the cabin/bunk.. dozing in fear you will be tipped out at any moment! But the wind is warm, and it is mainly sunny in daylight hours (although we did have a couple of showers ..that passed quickly!). A bit ‘stuffy’ down below (because the hatches and air vents are mainly closed due to spray coming over the deck)..especially when the cooking is going on..I mean, Jane, really?  Last night was some serious action with  steady 30kts from 1000hrs to 0600hrs. read more...

Nyaminyami II Blog Tuesday 10.12.13 - 1200hrs

By Chris Haworth and Graham Pike. An absolutely fantastic days sailing yesterday! Spini up at Dawn – 15 kts form NE in morning sunny and warm 20kts most of the afternoon Graham and I competing for fasted top speed surfing down waves regularly in the 10kt bracket and at the time of writing I had an 11.1 kt and he claims a 11.11kt....              Hang on the instruments only read to one decimal point!   24 hr run = circa 170 miles – Leader has ‘gone’ but very close between 2nd and 3rd...But were not racing!Overnight mixture of stars clouds and a few squalls up to 30knts at times - now got reef in and slightly furled genoa. Goose winging at average bt speed of 7.5kts (breeze slightly moderated now to. read more...

Nyaminyami II - Nyaminyami II Blog Wednesday 11.12.13 - 1200hrs

By Chris Haworth Some of the more observant amongst you will see I have started to lose track of the days as yesterdays Blog should clearly not have been entitled ‘..Tuesday 15.11.13..’ It’s a bit like that out here! In fact it was a bit of a ‘Groundhog day’ yesterday ......... An absolutely fantastic days sailing!  Although it was not Spini up at Dawn – too windy at 25kts from slowly veering E ..we carried on all day and all night under reefed main and slightly furled Genoa goose winged. Given the repaired state of our sails we are probably a little more cautious that we were as we don’t want to shred them again or undo the repairs! However we are still making a good average speed of about 7.5kts and we will settle on that for the time being.  Dinner was Rum. read more...
