Altair - Sailing As It Should Be!

Today reminds us why we like to sail offshore. The boat is moving along at
6-8 knots; ocean swells are minimal; sky is blue. Some dolphins came out to
play beside the boat for a while this morning; a flock of Great Blue Herons
flew by on their way to the Caribbean (they will get there before we do!).
And the fishing line is out. Last night, everyone slept well and got over
the lingering effects of seasickness. We are rapidly peeling off layers of
clothing...long underwear and sweaters have been replaced with light weight
pants and short sleeved T-shirts. The fleece sleeping bags we have been
using for blankets are rolled up and stowed away. We are heading south as
fast as we can go to get under that nasty low pressure area that is forming
in the next few days. No one wants a repeat of the storm we had the night
before last. Our weather router told us to get below 30 degrees lat/70
degrees long before tomorrow morning, and it looks like we can reach that
point...hopefully farther... to build in a buffer for ourselves.

It's election day, so we will start listening to BBC to hear the news as it
becomes available. All four of us voted by absentee ballot in Maine before
we left for the passage.
