Crazy Horse - Nov. 5-a.m.

What a difference a night makes! Our first night was rough with waves hitting us all over but we sailed well and got off to a good start but not much sleep. Part of the confusion was the crossing of the Gulf Stream. Then last night was a motoring one with little wind but an easy nights sleep when one wasn't on watch. And what a glorious sunrise with lots of hues of color as my friend the seagull looked on with me at the ever changing light show. Yes, we had our visit from Jimmy again. He visited us before, on our trip to Galapogos as we did the ARC.

Jimmy is Bill's cousin who had many sailing adventures with us. He passed away from cancer in about 2004. He loved birds of all kinds but especially the hawks and eagle. So when we go out on the seas we usually get a visit from a friendly winged creature and it reminds us of Jimmy and we hope he is watching out for us from above. He would have loved this particular morning.

So yesterday as we were sailing along happily up comes this sailing vessel flying past us called Falcon 2000. We were practically able to pass fish to each other! Well, there was none of that -but watching them fly past was a beautiful sight with their A sail taking over. We watched and of course we are not racing. But we all had a little twinge and decided to get out " little boy", our small spinnaker. It took a while to get him ready to fly since we haven't had it out for 3 years. It has many battle scars with one major repaired tear down practically the whole side. But "little boy" did us proud. He flew for a few hours then it was time to take him down. Yes, over the years we have gotten a little more careful-take it down before dark.

Matt made us one of his creations with pork chops in an apple, bacon, and pea sauce over mashed potatoes. It was a wonderful evening meal after a wonderful day of sailing.
So now we wait for the wind. When it finally comes up we will probably complain it is from the wrong direction or too strong.
