Nexus - Siesia and Cape York, Australia

We're peacefully anchored off os Seisia, a small aboriginal community off the western tip of Cape York in Australia. Its a very outback village at the end of the long 4wd trail from Cooktown to the northernmost tip of Australia, right across from the Torres Strait. Nice people who love to fish, but it does kind of feel like we're in an old Mel Gibson movie. Saltwater Croc's are abundant here, and we've been warned by many of the locals to be careful as they've been very active on the beach and in the water lately for some reason. We're anchored quite a ways from town behind Red Island and are keeping our hatches closed and a lookout for eyes in the dark! We stopped here to rest from our sail/motor up the channels on the east side of the cape, where heavy shipping traffic and narrow passages between coral patches keep us on our toes. We did divert and timed our voyage right to pass through Albany Pass on the tip of Cape York on our way here. It was perfect with only .5kt helpful tide coming in, and .3kt opposing tide going out the other side. Its a picturesque passage with many small beach alcoves along both sides and was very beautiful in the midday sun. The water has turned turquoise here and the beach sand is golden brown. We had a close look over by an Australian military ship as we rounded the point, this must be a very difficult border to patrol. Anyway, we're tucked in for a good night's rest, and will decide tomorrow if we start the passage to Darwin right away or rest another day.
