Trillium - Trillium Has Crossed the Finish Line in San Blas Islands

The good news is that we crossed Leg 1 Finish Line at 0718 on January 18th. That means we made the crossing of the Caribbean Sea in 6 days and 19 hours + 18 min. The bad news is that our Navionics charts do not have any details of the area! So we are doing it the old fashion way: paper charts and line of site. Not the easiest place in the world to be doing this! I am the one who screwed up as I thought the chip I bought included Panama and it doesn't. And, of course, there is no Internet here to download the charts!

With the exception of the added tension the chart issue has created, the crossing itself was a breeze. We had great winds all the way for wing and wing sailing. Trillium loves to fly when the winds are 20-30 kts so we had a great ride. In addition, we were blessed with the full moon sky all of the way. Once we got away from St. Lucia, we only had one day of squalls and plenty of sunshine and comfortable breezes. Unfortunately, we did not catch any fish on this leg, but we ate well.

Our Panama Canal passage date is January 28-29. We will carefully explore the San Blas Islands until moving to Shelter Bay Marina on January 25.
