Duplicat - Monday 9 December 14.47N 35.53W

We had a day as calm as this on the first week en route to Mindelo - so calm you can see the Shearwaters skimming the surface for fish and making a splash. That day we saw humpback whales but nothing so dramatic so far today. Years go we met a guy who had been round the world on his yacht and he said in his experience there is never any wind in the middle of the oceans - he is right today! Where are these promised trade winds?
Skipper has been up the mast to redo spi halyard which had chafed through the outer core and next job is to pour the diesel from our cans into the main tank - all looking forward to that one because the filler is under the helm seat in the cockpit! No-one has showered yet today so we can have a good scrub to get out the smell of diesel.
Anyway hazelnut and honey cake just came out of the breadmaker. Happy Days!
