Skara Brae - Flying Scotsman

The trade winds have finally kicked in - we have had 15kts from NNE since 5pm yesterday.

Boat was doing 7-10kts all night, i finally slowed her down at 4am, as we dont want anymore strain on the rigging, that has been repaired to 90% of functionality (we have some damaged Main Batton Cars) and the Gennaker Furler wont take the sail in past 2nd reef, we did attempt a repair of this yesterday, but looks like its Halyard (rope) is stuck at the top of the mast - and we have decided we are not spending good sailing hours fixing it and the crew are all tired of being battered up there - Tosh had some nice bruises from his ping-pong game with it - we have 3 other sails if this one gives out LOL.

so we are flying along averaging 8kts on a direct route to St Lucia.
at this rate we arrive there in 6 days on sunday
other interesting news

We found 7 flying fish on the net and deck this morning, they are a wee bit wee to eat.

We havent seen another ARC boat in 10 days!

We saw a couple of cargo ships 3 days ago - but havent seen anything in 3 days except flying fish and the occasional wee bird

We have had 2 of them hitch a ride for up to 12 hours, they usually hunch down under the bimini table for shelter, we give them water - but they usually dont touch it - then when its light they head off again!

anyway that's enough of the discovery channel

catch you all later - to all you land lubbers - enjoy work!
cheers from Skara Brae
