Duplicat - Fishing success

Day 2 of Phase 2 dawned with hardly any wind so motoring on one engine. We had managed to sail during the night but going too far south to make any impact on our distance to go. But everyone was tired and we let our new crew member off a night watch because he had more or less been up all night the day before travelling to meet us in Mindelo.

By lunchtime rods were out and to our surprise the port one started to scream. We watched a shoal of mahi mahi follow their unfortunate friend being reeled in and landed for our supper. All the time we were gutting it the others hung around for spoils. John put the rod back in and within minutes had hooked another but we were able to unhook him and throw him back. The shoal followed us for some time and had a look at any lunch scraps we threw over until they disappeared.

After lunch the wind increased enough to hoist the kite without mainsail and we were able to sail at over 5 knots most of the afternoon. Life on board settling back to a nice leisurely pace.
