Skara Brae - sunbathing and fishing in the middle of the Atlantic

Well if you like sunbathing and fishing then this is the Yacht to be on!

26 degrees at 9am in the morning streight onto the porch (cockpit) Throw a line out with a bungy cord - and big fish come and take the lure - caught a big Wahoo (well Andrew thinks its one of them or a Maha-mahe LOL) fish

Anyway Tosh our chef (yes we have a chef on board cause we're Posh (port out - starboard home) Gourockians quickly gutted it and cut it up into 10 steaks which is 2 meals for us 5!

Personally I don't sunbath or Fish - so I'm getting a wee bit fidgety, its 3 days since we have seen any real wind, after making the desicion to head south to calmer seas to repair the main sail - well it worked but now we are paying the consequences of no wind down here.

Some of the other boats decided to give the bad weather a miss and went to Cape Verdi for more fuel and dinner and beers etc:-( and now they are sailing above and past us towards St Lucia quicker than us!

We havent seen another boat or yacht or anything in 3 days - only action we have had is a Squid and 2 flying fish landed on our deck through the night.

Anyway apart from not breaking the speed record in the last 3 days - we did break it in the bad weather 4 days ago when we registered 19.7kts in the middle of Scotts 2am shift

So we have broke all the boat records to date:

fastest the boat has ever done 19.7ks
furthest south its ever been
furthest west its ever been
longest length of time at sea 10 days
furthest distance without a stop 1350nm

and the crew have broke a few records of their own

Sarah - 1st time sailing (what a way to start)
Andrew and Tosh 1st time up a mast
and the ones that really get the moral LOL
1 day without beer
2 days without fags
3 days without whisky
11 episodes of 'Still Game' (and theres more!)

anyway im away tae try and fix the Gennaker - which like the rest of the rigging has decided it doesnt want to play the game (luckily we dont expect to be using it, but you never know)

cheers the noo from Skara Brae
