Starla - Log Day 9 - Sunshine, Fishing and Repairs

Hello Everyone,

Distance logged today - 134 nautical miles. Distance to date this trip - 964 nautical miles. Remaining miles to St Lucia 1983.

Yesterday afternoon and evening were a slow in terms if distance made good to St Lucia, as the wind was directly from on the nose. That meant that we were tacking. The wind eventually moved around to the west by north west. Allowing us to sail a direct course. This should help us regain some lost ground on the rest of the fleet.

It has been tough to get to the present position. The forecast moving forward is very favorable and for the next few days we should make considerable progress, and gain some places in the fleet.

This morning we had to carry out some repairs to the boom brake, and also the jib sail track end stop.

The sun is shinning today and the rain squalls that are around have been missing our track.

For lunch today, the sea state was ok to cook, and we had pan fried Dorado, so good!!

Brian, Colin and myself all caught, 2.5kg Dorado's, to keep the fridge stocked. We even put one back that we caught, as we now have enough. The lines are still out to see if we can catch a tuna. I am getting some good practice at filleting fish, under the skillful supervision of Brian (well he did fish commercially in a previous life).

Guess what is on the menu tonight?

Regards,

Starla Crew
