Ocean Venture - Day 5 - shark thursday

No news has meant no comms. Our Doctor operated with skill over three days to bring it back to life today so duly awarded with praise. In someways its sad to say we are back in the world!.(Good news was saw my new grandaughter for the first time!).

Had some fantastic ocean sailing and more 200+ mile days which has ended abruptly in a dead calm 275 miles nnw of Cape Verde islands. In true OV spirit we dropped sail and swam at dawn, fished and caught 4 dorado in an hour and had to stop as it wasn't sporting anymore. What became the highlight of the day was when Ian hung the carcasses on a line and sure enough along came sharkey an hour later, a big 7' blue and with grace gently took his lunch. Then the fun started as we fed him most of our catch and pro cammed it feeding off the back. It now wont leave so sunset swim postponed. Actually quite humbling seeing this great predator up close.Changed our alternator in the calm and power restored with fridge back up to temperature. Crew moral high in spirit, eating too well, some getting very red bods.Looks like we wont be going anywhere tonight either with forecast. Its amazing what can be seen out here when sea is glass like turtles, fish, birds and a debris of cervasa tins all around us!

Back on air tomorrow.OV out.

Ps. Request for recognition to Dr. Cath Spoors for cakes and biscuits that crew acknowledge with gratitude.A few more next time around please.
