Golondrina - Thursday

It‘s unlikely that anyone watching the 'fleet tracker' isn’t asking the question "What on earth is Golondrina doing ? I thought they were going to St Lucia not South Africa ?" .. So here's what's happened –

Today at about midday we noticed Dave's Ipod speakers (and no-one’s knocking his choice of music - we really do like all of those smashing tracks!) has been sitting next to the compass and something about magnets makes them go odd, so and after a very pleasant fisherman from Senegal gave us a few tips about left and right, we're now firmly heading in the right direction. So wouldn't that be a story to tell your kids?

The truth is - we've been monitoring the weather systems and have skirted around a number of them which other fleets have ploughed straight into.  We're aware that a number of boats are heading for Cape Verde to refuel which indicates they have been becalmed for some time which we haven't. So although it was a gamble to take have taken this line, it seems to be paying off.  Our planned route is towards Cape Verde where the Trade Winds are due to develop  on Sunday and then we'll turn to the west.

Other news - 'Rattie' Davis didn't quite grasp the 'House Point' scheme and helped himself to a 'reward lollipop' without permission.  During his trial he put up a credible defence whilst blaming Mark. But Owain stood by his fellow Welshman and Stu has been docked all of his house points and has to listen to all of Dave's playlists in their entirety.

So at Midday today, there are still 2416 miles to go. The only question is ‘do we have enough sun tan Cream’?
