Resolute of Thames - Slow but Sure



Thursday! What a way to spend a week..in a blue-water vacuum and becoming more aware as the days go by that this is just Act 1 of a 2 Act play and that the second Act will be much longer than this first. However,very much looking forward to the interval in the Cape Verdes. Coming at them across the waves like this it is plain to see how remote they are. Even the African coast is slipping off the side of the chart now and we are left with a vast white page with brave little islands in the middle.
We had a slow night with winds dropping to a Force 3 and swell reducing too. It was conducive to some good off watch sleep. A huge fishing vessel passed by quite close going from the Falklands to Vigo in Spain. We imagined he did this regular trip and last night was wondering what on earth was going on to suddenly encounter this stream of annoying sailing boats causing his AIS to squawk alarmingly! This morning the wind has picked up and is now F4-5 which is getting us along nicely. Beginning to hope we might arrive in Mindelo in daylight on Saturday - but only if these winds continue...
