Webster - Log day 1: Away at last

After some 15 years or so in the planning here we are in Mayflower marina, Plymouth! Can't believe it really. Set off last Friday with Phil Greenwood, Phil and Chris Dowsett and Mark Emmerson bound for a world tour of Ramsgate. Wind and tide predominantly against but that's very normal for me, but we could have done without the incessant rain. Leaving Ramsgate bound for Cherbourg to sample the Fruit de mere and Chablis we had the most magical trip - sun, wind in the right direction (mostly) and the clearest night I can remember. The trip Cherbourg to Plymouth not suite so kind; what was a planned 116nm turned into 165nm with head wind the entire way so a bit of motor sailing required for sanity reasons. Arrived Wednesday morning in sunshine and its been lovely since. So, come tomorrow morning we will be off on ARC Portugal across Biscay and even the Grib file is showing 5 days of settled weather with following winds - it can't be right!
