Bowling and Island Tour in Sao Miguel

11 June 2015

Last night, ARC Europe participants went to Atlantic Bowling in Ponta Delgada to throw a few strikes! There are four lanes and various arcade games that were played straight through the night. Two signed bowling pins, one for the Kingpin and one for the Queenpin, were displayed as motivation for the highest scores. (To Be Announced!)

This morning, a half-day bus tour of Sao Miguel was organized. The first stop on the tour is a very old and unique pineapple plantation. After that, the bus traveled along windy mountain roads stopping at a viewpoint called Vista do Rei, or King’s View. On the return to Ponta Delgada, we visited a small lakeside village built at the bottom of a volcanic crater.

With the arrival of White Cliffs and Islay to Ponta Delgada this afternoon, there are a total of 34 boats in the marina. There is a 55nm day sail to Santa Maria tomorrow, where we will end the Azores cruise and prepare for the passage to Lagos!
