Makena - Pacific Crossing

About an hour before sunset, as we were sailing with the gennaker and the main sail, we saw our gennaker slowly fall down in the water! Arghhh!
We immediately jumped into action, and in about 20 minutes got the sail back in the boat. We were like fishermen bringing abord a net! The halyard shared by the gennaker and the spinnaker broke near its attachment point near the mast. We spent the rest of the evening discussing how to climb the mast to reattach the halyard. We enjoyed a lovely tasty dinner by guest chef Dave and since the winds are much too strong to be flying a spinnacker anyway we might leave the mast climbing off for a bit ;) We're sailing a bit more south now without the gennacker but we have under 1800nm to go and we're still making good speed. Trivia for the day is that Makena has logged over 15000nm now - it's funny to think that we'll go over 16000 as well on this same trip.

Are you all looking forward to Pi Day? What will you be doing at 9:26:53(.589 sec) AM and PM on 3/14/15 ? I wonder if Kai will live to the next one in 2115?!?!
