Via Con Me - Atlantic Rally for Cruisers 2015 - Part 1 - VIACONME confirmed!

2005, 2010, 2011, 2012 and now for the 5 th time in 2015, I will be joining the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers. Since I joined the ARC for the first time in 2005, I have been a big admirer for this annual event. In 2013, I flew from the Caribbean to Las Palmas to the start of the exceptional rally. At the last farewell party, when Bishop Andrew came and made a speech, I must confess that some tears ran down on my cheeks. I also found many participants I knew from previous ARC's, the staff e.g. of the WCC were all still the same members and it was very nice to see Andrew, Jeremy, Clare, Rob, and some more yellow shirts and also some employees of JP Butchers etc. and of course Ernst of "Zingara" and Manfred of "Albatross". For me, the annual regatta was and is always very emotional. So it is clear to me, that I have to participate the ARC in 2015.

The ARC 2015 will be a special event, because it's the 30th anniversary of the ARC. It's one of the best organized sailing events and so I am very excited. In spring 2014 I made contact with the World Cruising Club and asked them to take me again on the list of participants. In October 2014, the World Cruising Club took immediately contact with me and some days later, I was confirmed with my sailing boat VIACONME for the 2015 rally.

Great! In the meantime, all participants of VIACONME are now registered, the yacht is complete. The crew is as follows:

From Switzerland: Doris (61), Felix (52)
From England: Ray (65)
From Germany: Andreas (63), Torsten (50)

The skipper of course is me!

Each of the participants has quality features, e.g., Torsten. A sailor, who has already sailed quite a lot of races, including also BMW Sailing Cup, Delta Lloyd North Sea Race with Tim Kröger. I had been wondering why exactly a "racer" wants to ride on my 12.14m long yacht?

The answer was soon found. Torsten wishes to cross the Atlantic, and so he has come to me. The decisive factor was also my website www.viaconme.ch and insertions. I for one am really looking forward to Torsten, because I can learn from him. Torsten, welcome on board !!

Ray from England, for example, is Mathematician, worked for a long time for iridium. He is good in repairs and improvisation. Ray, nice to have you on board !!

Andreas has a degree in architecture and also worked on the job, but then decided to get involved in riding and horse riding therapy for young people in Cell, Germany, to support his wife in management.
So if we have troubles on our boat, Andreas will act as our conflict manager...

Felix is an IT guru and owner of a Dyaz sailboat. He has already made several trips with Andreas. Felix, Andreas and Torsten will be our "deckhands" and strategic sailors.

Doris is our dive professional. She owned a dive shop in Switzerland a long time ago, and can repair any kind of stuff e.g. repairs to diving equipment, compressors, engines. She worked also as a dive manager in Egypt.
Water is her element.

Until the official launch on Sunday, November 22, 2015, there is still much to organize. But first, my 39th Bavaria has to reach Las Palmas. So I organized the cruise from Chaguaramas, Trinidad, to Las Palmas in Gran Canarias..

But first we have to solve some daily business in maintenance (Rigg check, Engine check, security check etc.) to bring the yacht securely over the North Atlantic - I don't like to have complications. The list, which I had worked out, it still work in progress.

German version:

Great!

Doris (61) - Crew
Felix (52) - Crew
Marina (59) - Skipperin/Eigenerin

Aus Deutschland:
Andreas (63) - Crew,
Torsten (50) - Co-Skipper

Aus old England:
Ray (65) - Crew

Jeder der Teilnehmer hat was drauf, so z.B. Torsten.

Torsten, welcome on board!!

Ray, nice to have you on board!!
