Exody - Day 19 - 28th November - Where's the Wind?

The trades faded a bit during the afternoon following a reasonable days run at noon UTC of 140 miles. We sighted a small Dutch ship in the morning - the Flintamar - only our second ship sighting of the whole rally - she was headed for London and we deduced from the reciprocal of her course that she was probably out of Suriname on the south american mainland.

In the late afternoon we got our loose luffed yankee up properly which helped keep speed above 4 knots and also got the towing generator back out to help with the 'balance of power' at the expense of the opportunity to fish- have still not yet worked out how a fishing line and a towing gen can both be deployed simultaneously. The fridge had turned itself of again and so I have done a much more careful calculation of electricity in and electricity out to try and make it all stack up with minimal engine running. But when we fell below 4 knots well after nightfall, we dropped sail and motored for a couple of hours and drew up close with Paroya on a similar course- she is a Swiss Bavaria 390 Lagoon so close to us in length. It was great to have company of another ARC yacht for a spell and we connected by radio for a brief chat.

Looks like we might need to recalculate our arrival based on a slower average - Thursday 4th looking less achievable.
