Nexus - Sailing the Wild Coast of South Africa

We left Richards Bay yesterday at noon, and said goodbye to our new friends. The people at Zululand Yacht Club are really special, we found them generous, friendly and warm and we have some new friends for life we believe! It's a fun family atmosphere with lots of access to game parks and western shopping and provisions, we recommend it highly! We're on our way now on what is probably the most dangerous part of our voyage, the Wild Coast. We nipped out in a good weather window supported by knowledgeable locals and headed south along the Agulhas current. This area between Durbin and East London has no shelter, and is known for rogue waves and strong currents when the weather shifts so we're watching it carefully. So far we were sailing in headwinds which died off and now we've been motoring in little to no wind. We expect the wind to pick up behind us this afternoon, and with a boost from the current we will be in either East London, or if we can make it, Port Elizabeth by the end of the day Sunday. A small low pressure system is coming in Monday am, so we'll hunker down and wait for the next lull before we go around to Francis Bay. So far so good, the Wild Coast is beautiful in the daylight, and we're told we will see waterfalls tumbling off the cliffs into the sea a bit further down. We're looking forward to getting into Francis Bay, where NEXUS wias built, and celebrating her circumnavigation even though we have not finished our own! All is well.
