Challenger 3 - living the dream

DAY 13

Another day, another sunrise. Challenger 3 continues to motor along at a steady 7 knots, chasing the winds that will blow us to paradise. We continue to follow the modified watch system and all aboard are enjoying the extra free time by sleeping, reading and kicking back in their own ways.

I find it surprising at how tired we all were initially and realized the fatigue was there only once we had a chance to break from our routine of watches. Whilst off watch the foredeck is proving to be a popular choice for crew to get away from the cockpit, curl up in a sail and doze, sheltered from the heat of the midday sun.

It’s a great feeling having the sun and warmth for company, although pay her too much attention and you will get burnt! It’s easy to forget it’s December, 18 days from Christmas. Dark, cold, drizzly mornings seem a world away.

With each new day we come a few miles closer to our goal. Although the mechanic low gurgling of Challenger’s engine has it’s ‘charm’, it’ll be nice to get under sail again and hear the waves lapping at the hull, knowing we are gliding towards our dreams.

Distance run 1884 NM
