Skara Brae - Night watch on Skara Brae

Well we were hoping to be a wee bit further to St Lucia than we are at present :-(

12 days at sea, we should almost be there - but alas we are only at the 1/2 way mark! We have covered 1500nm but in actual fact only done 1300 as the crow flies as we were thrown a few curve balls of bad weather, which caused damage to the sails which made us route south for calm weather to repair the damage and then got us stuck in a an area with no wind.

Which added to the lack of trade winds means we are going nowhere fast! So with 1500 covered and nearly 1500 left, we are nearly 1/2 way there!

Finally tonight we have have started seeing winds above 10kts - and we are averaging 6knts with the spinnaker out front, so by morning we should have clocked 60 miles in 10 hours and hopefully 150 in the last 24 hours and if the trade winds finally kick in we should be able to do 150- 200 miles/day so we should get to St Lucia in about 8 days but def in 10 days.

But I'm not complaining I'm in the middle of the Atlantic, the weather is great, the sailing is relaxing, and I'm watching the stars on my night watch and Scott found a few wee miniatures of Glenlivet - so I've got a wee hot toady for my night cap:-)

what more can a man want?
cheers fae Skara Brae
