Idea of London - VQ Ocean Race Update - the heat is on.

So, it's day eleven on the big brother boat and our intrepid sailors
continue to impress (themselves, principally) by staring endless tuna and
tomato salads head-on. As I write, Ben is expirmenting with beetroot and
sardines, so I for one am looking forward to dinner tonight with a relish
that borders on the homicidal. To wash things down, we have Ig's 'eclectic'
choice of beverages from the Carrefour spirit isle (Baileys, Limoncello,
Honey Rum and Vodka) as the last few cans of beer sink without trace. Lucas
'I've only had four cans' Bertrand claims no knowledge of where the rest of
the beer has gone.

Below decks, the temperature is rising and it's not because Al Mac has his
special pants on. No, as we head relentlessly toward the Caribean (or
towards Brazil when Lucas is at the helm) the heat is rising. With no
tanked water, but sun cream now essential, it's all getting pretty sticky.
It's fair to say that wet wipes are not the panacea of cleanliness that the
girl in Boots assured me they would be.

The sweepstake for our ETA opened yesterday with the bets falling between
Thursday 6pm and late Friday. It seems that we may have been a touch
optimistic and people are slowly and somewhat reluctantly making mental
preparations for a late Saturday landing. It seems that hot food, hot
showers and cold drinks remain a few days away. All the more galling as
Caro, the favourite in our class, looks likely to cross the line sometime
tomorrow. We smell foul play (and Rupert's feet) and will launch an
exhaustive enquiry in due course.

So, it's good night from me and it's good night from them.

Until the next gripping instalment, we leave you to your hankies, prayer
beads and lucky charms.

God Speed, VQ.
