True Colours - First Night Blues

Position 26:37.79N 016:04.20W

Fairly decent start – port broad reach ready to launch the A sail.  Had to duck half a dozen starboard boats then off we went, A sail launched, 8 knots.  After 10 minutes A sail down as a squall was coming through and for the next few hours we weere doing 8 knots plus.  Speed record to Doug at 10.0 knots.  40 miles in the first 5 hours.  We stood well out to the west and kept the breeze, while the boats that ha d gone closer to the shore found the wind died on them.

And then at about 8.00 it all came to an end.  Wind died, engine on, and for the next 9 hours we motored with about 3 knots of true wind speed.  Then at daybreak the wind increased, genoa unfurled, and currently doing about 6 knots in 12 knots of breeze.

Spirits high, and modified electric toilet still working (modifications unanimously voted an improvement as we control the amount of water fluid in and out)

Breakfast finished – now for jobs.
