Resolute of Thames - Ambling Along

In many ways just another day at sea. Moderate rather than good progress with a NNE / E wind at 10-15 knots. This can be, at times, a tad frustrating (particularly if we examine the boat position report closely). However, the night was firstly very black, then the cloud lifted to reveal more stars than can ever be seen on land (the only source of light pollution here is our small mast-head light) and we have just had the most spectacular sunrise.

To compensate for the lack of progress we had a very busy dog watch: Gilly-mate removed all forms of alien life from the bottom of the fridge, did some fresh vegetable weeding and I set to with some tidying up on deck and gave the engine a check over before washing the kitchen floor - which for those non nautical readers I should point out measures 25 x 32 inches and is therefore not a big task - lastly I did some can crushing and bottle flattening. Even with just 2 of us on board the volume of rubbish we create is quite surprising. Given our current rate of progress the boat will resemble a land fill site by the time we get to St Lucia.

Lastly, we both had showers and a glass of wine before supper to celebrate having the cleanest boat on the rally. Not that anybody can see it. We have not now seen another boat for some 48 hours.
