Over the last few days the World ARC yachts have been gathering for a final rendezvous at the delightful Marigot Bay Marina, Saint Lucia, to enjoy a packed social programme ashore and to prepare for the Parade of Sail to Rodney Bay on Saturday, which marks the end of World ARC 2010/11. For the last few weeks the boats have been enjoying a free cruising period visiting wonderful (if not windy and rainy) anchorages in the Windward Islands but they are now benefiting from being alongside in the marina.
The fun began yesterday evening with a kind invitation from the management team at Marigot Bay to join them and hotel guests for drinks and canapés. After a few weeks of free cruising there was a bit of catching up to do, as well as meeting old friends who were involved in previous legs of the Rally and who have flown in to rejoin their boats as crew for the end of Rally festivities.
The eleven boats which are already in Marigot Bay will be joined later today by the rest of the fleet. A Creole dockside party is arranged for tonight and will be another great opportunity to catch up and enjoy the moment. The end of the Rally can be a time for reflection on the challenge of sailing around the world and the crews have much to celebrate.
Let the partying continue!
