Miramar - (no subject)

It's Thursday morning, 8 am. We just shook two reefs out of the main, and fully unfurled the Genoa. We're making a comfortable 5+ knots with 10.5 knots of breeze. Nice and mellow after yesterday and last night's race in 22 knot winds and somewhat chaotic seas. We've hung some towels and clothes from the lifelines to dry in the rising sun.

We're taking advantage of the calm to catch up on a little cleaning and organization. We've also put two hand lines in the water, fishing for the first time in days. People look a little groggy after a long night, but generally in good spirits. Even Quixote is finally looking sane; the world has stopped moving beneath his feet enough that he's no longer afraid of his litter box.

We made some much needed easterly progress yesterday, currently at 69 degrees West. The forecast suggests we'll have another 24 hours of this reach before the winds clock around out of the south east and we'll have to head straight south for a while. It would be heavenly to maintain this speed with this level of comfort; lots of resting, reading, eating and projects on the agenda.
