Scarlet Lady - Log Day 13 - Santiago de Compostela and Rally prizegiving dinner

This morning we were picked up early by coach to go on a trip to the historic city of Santiago di Compostello.  Peter wanted to say his farewells to everyone so he came to see us off on the coach.  It was quite emotional and a few tears were shed :(

For the first time in days, the sun came out for us and we had a lovely day.  Our guide was fantastic and very knowledgeable.  One of the highlights was seeing a huge incense burner being lit in the cathedral and being swung at a great height across the entire width of the cathedral.  After our guided tour, Steve, John and I had a very nice lunch with Scott and Julia off Katerina.  The waiter was a real character and foolishly offered us free shots at the end of the meal.  He left a couple of bottles on the table and one was nearly empty by the time we left!

The evening brought us our first Rally prizegiving and dinner.  Steve and I were surprised to learn that we had won the award for the most Rally log entries submitted, and were presented with a lovely plaque.  It was yet another great evening but cut rather short as we were told there was a weather front coming through tomorrow and we would be best advised to leave Bayona for Povoa de Varzim at 6am tomorrow.  So, sadly, we headed off to bed at middnight.

Lynne, Steve & John
