Rhumb - Log Day 4

Today saw the departure of David and Len - a very difficult moment for us all for lots of obvious reasons.

The day did perk up a little though, as a wander into town brought us to an Irish hostelry, whereupon we just had to have a couple of pints of Guinness - very nice they were too. Yours truly though, spilt most of his before the first sip was taken.

On our way back to the marina, we happened upon a young lady who was preparing her boat to row across the Atlantic to Dominica - 3 months apparently rowing for 8 hours a day, we thought we had problems!! Quite a lady really - adventurous or foolhardy, only time will tell. On a similar subject, this reminded us of what could have been quite an embarrassing encounter on day 2 when we nearly ran down a British 4 man row boat, probably on a similar adventure. Fortunately, evading action was taken and all was OK, but it was a close thing as they were not very visible.

Thank you Anne, our honorary 6th crew member, for a wonderful pre-prepared chicken curry which was a very welcome dinner to round the day off.

Still keeping our spirits as high as poss - John, Brian and Ian.
