Purrr-fect - leg two-day 8: Thanksgiving Day

We treated ourselves to a special celebration mid-ocean by celebrating Thanksgiving and also reaching the halfway point in our voyage. We reached 1047 nm distance to go last night just before midnight. Our Thanksgiving feast included some of our favorites from back home like cranberry sauce, green bean casserole, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes with gravy and homemade crescent dinner rolls. Of course, we had turkey but only turkey breast instead of a whole turkey which was impossible given our small freezer space on board. Nonetheless after such a feast a mid-day, we all had afternoon naps and only had a small bowl of soup for evening supper. Best of all, we have lots of yummy left overs in the fridge for meals the next few days. The seas continued to throw us around with 8-10 foot swells, so preparing and serving our feast was quite a challenge. Fortunately the wind has continued to be steady from the east northeast at over 18 knots, so we did not need to change sails at all for the 3rd day in a row. And we had our best day so far with a noon to noon distance of 155.2 miles, averaging over 6.5 knots for the last 24 hours. Now if we can just get to a place with less ocean swell and chop, the boat will be more comfortable. We have much to be thankful for, so today was a great time to reflect on family and friends back home and give God thanks for all His blessings and our safety on this voyage.
