Exody - Day 17 - November 26th - Trade Wind Day

The weather information on the morning radio net from boats ahead did not augur well- squalls, north winds, south winds, variable and light! But in our part of the ocean around 17 north and between 41 and 44 west heading just south of west, it was a fine trade wind sailing day with consistent winds between 15 and 20 knots all day long no squalls - just how it should be!

Marian finally got around to doing a meal making and jobs rota so no more guessing who might volunteer from hereon in. Chef of the night was Tony with an excellent corned beef hash, first of the protein tins to be opened- and we also enjoyed some of a large long-lasting Las Palmas melon, that will still do us a few more meals.

With the towing generator pulled in, Marian has tried a little fishing at dawn and dusk and now reckons she may need fraternal tutoring in Trinidad before success comes her way!

Looks like we are using more electricity than planned- fridge working harder maybe - since the wind and solar are not keeping pace as they did further north. This means running the engine every now and then- never a pleasure when not needed for propulsion!

The day and night were once again absent both ships and marine life - bar the appearance of large clumps of seaweed, some of which is now helpfully lodged around the Aries paddle!

Finally the days run to noon of 134 with just over half distance to run of 1138 - indicate that we might yet make it sometime on birthday day 4th December a week tomorrow.

Peter (Skipper)

PS - Apologies for numbering of last post that should have been Day 16
